jAMES BLACK

President/CEO and owner of Black Electric Inc. for more than 30 years. Jim coordinates and oversees the team and workforce from the initial client meeting to the final project closeout. His goal is to maintain a close relationship between himself, his team and his clients to foster a dedication to customer satisfaction unparalleled in the industry. He holds a master’s electrical license in Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester and Orange Counties, and Poughkeepsie, NY.

Daphne Black

For over three decades, Daphne Black has been servicing the Hudson Valley’s commercial and residential building needs. Her prior experience project managing ground-up new construction and large-scale renovations alike has strengthened her ties to the local builder community and bolstered her ability to lead Black Electric toward continued success. As a member of the Women Builders Council, Daphne places value on providing opportunities for increased diversity within the construction industry. Over the last 16+ years, Daphne has partnered with Jim to lead the company in all facets of its day-to-day operations, ensuring that their team is well-suited to deliver against the company’s quest for providing quality service to its customers.

BRIAN SULLIVAN

Project manager - Brian began working as an electrician in 1984. In 1987 he joined the Marine Corps as a helicopter mechanic based in California. He also served in Japan and the Philippines. He was later transferred to the Presidential Helicopter Squadron in Quantico and served under President George Bush Sr. on Marine One. He left the military in 1992 as a sergeant and returned to New York to resume his career as an electrician. Brian specializes in municipal water and sewer plants and high-end residential specialized installations, including Lutron lighting and photo-voltaic systems. He installed the commercial Lutron lighting Eco-System at Millbrook School's Math and Science Center and was project manager of the complete renovation project at Adams Fair Acre Farms in Poughkeepsie and Kingston. Brian has been with the company 15 years.

BRIAN AHEARN

Onsite Management of Projects and Manpower. Brian provides a high level of expertise in Project Layout, Scheduling, and Production. He is responsible for project layout to maximize production and for the day to day scheduling of manpower to meet project commitments and deadlines. Brian has worked in the Hudson Valley as an Electrician for 30 years, specializing in Commercial and Industrial construction. During this time he has developed strong Troubleshooting, Layout, and management skills.

Jeff dodge

Jeff has 16 years’ experience in the industry as an Estimator and Project and Operations Manager. Educated in engineering and design drafting from the University of Massachusetts before completing an electrical apprenticeship for a local contractor. Went on to manage single projects upwards of $16M dollars for the largest open shop electrical contractor on the East Coast and completed over (70) projects for the largest Systems Integrator on the East Coast. Most recently leaving a commercial electrical contractor in Massachusetts as Director of Operations to bring his wife and (2) young children back closer to family in the Hudson Valley. Jeff believes there is no substitute for hard work and diligence but also that no one succeeds alone and the relationships we build both inside and outside the company determines how much we can accomplish.
